As a Governing Body, UK Athletics (UKA) is wholly responsible for developing and implementing the rules and regulations of the sport in the United Kingdom. This includes everything from anti-doping, health and safety, facilities and welfare, to training and education for coaches and officials, and also permitting and licensing. UK Athletics introduced the British Athletics brand in 2013 to act as the identity for athletics in the United Kingdom, while UK Athletics continues in the role of governance. It has four member organisations, one from each of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom: England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Welsh Athletics, and Athletics Northern Ireland.
UKA utilises First Sports platform as its core sports database. UKA, is focused on data surrounding the individual competitors for each UK Athletics Olympic sporting discipline. The flexibility of First Sports platform means it can handle the requirements of individual based sports organisations such as UKA just as well as team based sports.
The First Sports platform at UKA serves as the organisation’s core communications and master data management system, running a variety of specialty modules including high performance tracking, membership management, player registration, competitions and advanced communications.
